Name: Krissy Shannon
Died: July 2, 2005
Age at death: 29
Cause of death: Allergy medication overdose
Location: Bremerton, Washington, USA
Details: Krissy lived at the Frances Haddon Morgan Center, an institution for people with autism and developmental disabilities. At first it was thought she had died of natural causes, but pathologists found a very high level of the drug Chlortrimeton, which is an antihistamine used for allergies, and also as a mild sedative for its side-effect of drowsiness.
It is unknown how Krissy ingested the drug, but the most likely scenarios are that either she was given the medication intentionally by someone to keep her quiet or kill her, or that negligence at the institution resulted in Krissy getting access to a large quantity of the medication and swallowing it without being observed. All drugs at the Morgan Center are supposed to be locked up.
The Morgan Center has since been closed due to four deaths and the brutal rape of a sixteen-year-old autistic boy, who survived his ordeal.
The others who died at the facility were Bob Elder, who had epilepsy and died of a seizure after doctors prescribed medication known to increase the occurrence of seizures; Arvid Arden, who died after choking due to poor supervision; and Jenny Jessup, who has her own memorial page here.
