Age at death: 21
Cause of death: Murder (Strangled)

Adrian’s friends knew him as a kind, generous person with an ever-present smile. He trusted anyone and would do anything for them. He loved music and would play a song over and over. He had a great memory for directions, and a talent for working with electronics.

As a little boy, Adrian loved Thomas the Tank Engine, and played episodes over and over. He could recite them completely from memory. As he grew, he liked to watch Norman Wisdom’s comedy, East Enders, and Coronation Street.

In 2005, Andrew was raped; in 2006, he gathered the courage to talk about it. Police investigated, but they dropped the case, partly because of Andrew’s autism. Two months afterward, the man who had raped him strangled him and dumped his body in an alley.

In Andrew’s memory, a charity called Aid for Asperger’s was formed to help young people with Asperger’s find support and employment.
