Andrew Young

Andrew YoungName: Andrew Young
Died: November 7, 2013
Age at death: 40
Cause of death: Murder.
Location: Bournemouth, England, UK.

Details:
Andrew Young was naive and trusting, well known as a local eccentric. He spoke several languages, including Arabic and Russian. He was a former sea cadet. He was obsessed with computers and spent his free time in internet cafes. He was a friendly man who would often strike up conversations with people at the bus stop. Every Sunday he would attend Mass. Every day he would go to a local pub, order two drinks, and chat with the barman. He had recently lost his father and was lonely, and he felt at home at the pub.

One day Andrew was out walking, as he often did, and he saw a man riding a bicycle on the sidewalk. This was against local traffic regulations and Andrew, who did not know that he was taking a risk, confronted the man for riding his bicycle on the sidewalk. After a short argument, the man's friend punched Andrew hard in the face. Completely surprised, Andrew could not catch himself and fell backward, his head smashing against the pavement. Andrew's assailant walked casually away from the scene as bystanders tried to assist Andrew.

Andrew died the next day of massive head injuries, with his mother by his bedside. His murderer was given four-and-a-half years in prison–four years for manslaughter, six months for unrelated charges related to receiving stolen property.
