Name: Sanaa Cunningham.
Died: February 12, 2017.
Age at death: 7.
Cause of death: Murder by child abuse.
Location: Goodyear, Arizona, USA.
Sanaa’s father and stepmother kept her restrained, locked her in a small room, tied her up, starved her, and forced her to do heavy physical work. She was brought in to an urgent care center with severe bruises and scratches, and died of sepsis and pneumonia. When she died, she was tied up and couldn’t even cough properly to clear bacteria from her lungs.
During this time, Sanaa’s mother was kept apart from her daughter, with her father, a former policeman, limiting and canceling her visits. Sanaa’s mother remembers her as a bright girl who played with her older sister, and who didn’t have the severe mental and physical health problems her father and stepmother said she had.
