Logan Starling

Photo of a small boy with blond hair, smiling for the camera, holding up a construction-paper cut-out Elmo.Name: Logan Starling.
Died: September 28, 2018.
Age at death: 4.
Cause of death: Neglect (Left in hot car).
Location: Orlando, Florida, USA.

Logan’s father remembers him as “my little Logo on the go go”, a hyperactive child who would hop around like a kangaroo. He liked watching the SunRail trains and pretending they were Thomas the Tank Engine. He went to school in a pre-K class.

Logan’s father’s fiance left him locked inside her van on a hot day in Florida, parked outside the school. He died of heat stroke and wasn’t found until 2:30 in the afternoon.

Logan’s great-aunt says that Logan was not the sort of quiet child who could be forgotten in a van by accident; if he wasn’t there, you would notice it.

Logan’s father’s fiance pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to 5 years of probation.

  1. Just found this and I am OUTRAGED! This child was NOT autistic and shame on whomever did not do the research before publishing this!

    1. This memorial includes people who either were on the autism spectrum, had strong autistic traits, or were called autistic by others. In this case, Logan’s father’s girlfriend claimed that he was autistic and prone to wandering while trying to explain his death to police. The case of Alexis Glover is similar: https://autismmemorial.wordpress.com/2009/01/07/alexis-lexie-agyepong-glover/

We do not consider autism to be shameful; so we do not consider it outrageous that someone might be thought to be autistic. What is outrageous is that the person who left him in that car considered autism a reasonable explanation for a dead child.
