Daniel and Luke were not autistic–but, despite several assessments all coming out normal, their mother was convinced they were autistic and would be “better off in heaven” and repeatedly tried to kill them. They had one older brother, two years older than Daniel.
When Daniel was a baby, his mother left him in a 112-degree parked car. He survived.
When they were two and five, Daniel and Luke’s mother had tried to kill them by tying them up with twine and running over them with her car several times trying to “end their suffering”. They were hospitalized with broken bones, but their mother claimed it had been an accident and no action was taken.
Brothers Daniel and Luke were drowned in the bathtub by their mother when she pushed them into the bathtub and sat on them to keep their heads underwater. Luke died right away; Daniel lingered on life support for a few days.
Although their mother eventually pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 30-80 years in prison, neither Daniel nor Luke’s names were mentioned at the trial until the sentencing hearing, and no details were ever given about what the boys were like.
