Kyle’s mother describes him as “a happy and carefree child”, an extrovert who always wanted to be around other people. He loved Christmas lights, but his favorite holiday was Halloween. Kyle talked about Halloween nearly every day to anyone who would listen, and would dress up in costume and go trick-or-treating anytime he could.

Kyle’s father shot him and then himself in a murder-suicide. His suicide note does not explain why, but there has been much discussion of the “stress of having a special needs child”.
