Four-year-old Asher had been diagnosed with both cerebral palsy and autism. He liked water, but he could not swim.

Asher’s mother, who knew Asher could not swim and knew he was attracted to water, left her son sitting alone by the family pool and went into the house. Fifteen minutes later, Asher had drowned.

A jury convicted Asher’s mother of negligent homicide and child abuse.
