Benjamin was shot to death by his mother, who killed herself one day later.
Benjamin had just graduated from Wellspring Academy, a boarding school for obese teenagers. When the school system would not send Benjamin away to a special ed treatment program, his mother killed him.
Benjamin was bullied at school, but his father describes him as “one of the kindest and sweetest kids a parent could ever wish to have.”
