Malik vanished from his home. His parents claimed he had walked out of the house, but the only witness to his departure was his twin sister, and a thorough search did not turn up any sign of him. With the boy missing for too long to have been a wandering case, Malik’s disappearance became a criminal investigation.
Five days after he went missing, police became suspicious when it was revealed that Malik had never actually been tested for autism.
Over a year later, Malik’s father turned himself in, and Malik’s remains were discovered in a field near the house. He admitted to beating the toddler to death and was sentenced to 40 years.
